Carac Symposium is the annual event dedicated to characterization techniques that fit to electronics domain and beyond. Characterization of new electronic components is essential to their design and ultimately to ensure their reliability. The increasing complexity of electronic components and technologies, as well as the diversification of materials and manufacturing processes in the More-than-Moore approach require characterization that exceeds the performance of conventional laboratory equipment. To accurately correlate the micro and nanoscale characteristics of materials with the macroscopic properties of components, researchers need to gain in spatial resolution, detection capability and acquisition speed. This is why they use very specific beams of photos and neutrons from large instruments among the best in the world available on the scientific peninsula of Grenoble.
Dedicated to imaging technics, the 8th edition of Carac will took place November 30, 2021, online on the IRT Nanoelec webinar platform. This year, the attendees will have possibility to take part in a set of practice workshops focused on selected high performance technics (tomography, chemical mapping, high-resolution topography and morphology…).
Special emphasis will be given to the possibilities offered by very large equipment available under the Nanoelec/Characterization program (https://irtnanoelec.fr/characterisation-programme-irt-nanoelec/) and its attached PAC-G platform (https://pac-grenoble.eu/), at the ESRF, the most efficient synchrotron source in the world, at the ILL, neutrons powerful beams from a research dedicated nuclear reactor) and CNRS/LPSC very fast neutrons beam.
