The HKL Suite software licences that the ESRF had for the macromolecular crystallography beamlines have expired and HKL Research software binaries are no longer available. The users have responsibility to bring and, after the experiment, deinstall all HKL Research software.

On all of our data processing computers up to date versions of XDS, MOSFLM and DIALS are installed.


How to obtain a temporary license

  • Academic users may obtain a temporary licence to run denzo on the relevant computer by following the steps outlined below:
  • Obtain computer and detector details for the beamline to be used (see below). OBS! Due to a confict between denzo and our cluster load balancing software Mosix it is not possible to run denzo on the MX clusters.
  • At least a week before your experiment, contact HKL Research, Inc. and request a temporary licence using the computer details (See the table hereunder).  To check  these  values, you may use the command access_pro and answer "no" when it asks you to send automatically a mail to HKL Research.
  • Once at the ESRF copy your cr_info AND denzo/HKL2000 binary file(s) (using for example CR-ROM read on the bricks/beamline machines), as obtained from HKL Research, into the directory(ies) where you will process data. ADSC 210 (ID29 detector) is only supported by version 1.97.0 and later.
  • Before you leave ESRF, deinstall the cr_info file and HKL Research software.

    You may also bring your own portable PC with HKL Research software and use this locally on the beamlines.

    Industrial users should check the conditions of their licences. In order to process synchrotron data, industrial users should hold a Synchrotron Licence. Check the HKL Research web pages for more information.
