This week the ESRF hosted the 7th International Workshop on Radiation Imaging Detectors (IWoRID-7). IWoRID-7 is a workshop held annually, and always at a different place in Europe. This year the ESRF, together with the CEA-LETI, had the honour of organising this important workshop. The workshop deals with all aspects of imaging detectors, and many different topics were covered during the 3 ½ days: scintillators, semiconductors, microelectronics, interconnect technologies, physics of imaging, high energy physics, medical imaging, space research, fusion research and of course synchrotron radiation research. This year’s workshop had a record number of 150 participants, featured 13 invited and 32 contributed talks as well as 40 poster presentations. All sessions were very well attended (probably the “bad weather” helped a little). All those involved expressed their great satisfaction with the scientific aspects as well as social aspects of the program.
