Visit of Prof. Dr. Martina Hirayama, Swiss State Secretary for Education, Research and Innovation

Prof. Dr. Hirayama was accompanied by a delegation including Ambassador Michael Gerber, Director General Division International Programmes and Organisations IPO at SERI, Xavier Reymond, Deputy Head of the Division IPO and Head of International Research Organisations at SERI, and Dr. Patrice Soom, Chair of the ESRF Administrative and Finance Committee.

This visit was a great opportunity to present to Prof. Dr. Hirayama the new science carried out at the ESRF with the Extremely Brilliant Source, and the many ongoing ESRF-Swiss collaborations in science, technology, industry and within the SLS2.0 (Swiss Light Source) construction.

Switzerland is a founding member State of the ESRF. In addition to a very productive use of the facility and a rich collaboration with the ESRF scientific community, Switzerland has actively supported and participated in all efforts in science and technology at the ESRF, including its Upgrade Programme (2009-2023).
