SCOPE

_______

Cancer can arise in virtually any organ and remains one of the greatest challenges in modern medicine. Understanding how cancer emerges, evolves, and responds to therapy requires us to explore the disease across multiple biological and spatial scales.

This User-Dedicated Microsymposium (UDM) will showcase how synchrotron-based approaches contribute to cancer research, bringing together structural biology, spectroscopy, high-resolution imaging and multimodal methods to connect molecular and structural mechanisms with cellular and tissue organisation, evolution, and response to therapy.

The scientific programme will address environmental factors involved in cancer initiation, molecular and structural mechanisms underlying response and resistance, the design and action of therapeutic strategies, and mechanistic and functional changes associated with tumour progression and treatment.

By bringing together researchers in oncology, biology, chemistry, physics, structural biology, and biomedical imaging, the UDM aims to encourage discussion across-disciplines and stimulate new collaborations. A central aim will be the integration of information obtained at molecular, cellular, and tissue levels to build a more comprehensive view of disease mechanisms and therapeutic response.

Invited talks, contributed talks selected from submitted abstracts, together witha poster session and discussions will highlight cutting-edge research, emerging methodologies, current challenges, and open questions in synchrotron-based cancer research.

Join us to explore what synchrotron science can reveal about cancer across biological and spatial scales.
