The other possibility is the direct TGV from Lyon Airport to Grenoble.

Tram line "B" :

- serves downtown Grenoble, including the bus and railway station. It allows easy access (even at night) from downtown Grenoble to the ESRF.

- its terminus - 'Oxford' - is situated just 350 metres from the site entrance.

You can ask for 3-days tram tickets at the registration desk.
During the week-end and on Monday you can buy your tram ticket at the tram stations at a ticket vending machine or via SMS by sending the text "1H" (means 1 hour) to the nr 93 123 (cost of a local SMS according to your mobile provider).
