Synopsis
SpLine is devoted to material science in the energy range 5-45 keV. Facilities are available for surface/interface, grazing incidence, and single crystal X-ray diffraction and hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.

Technical details
SpLine permits hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to be combined with diffraction. Surface diffraction is possible for free surfaces, interfaces, superlattices and thin films. The beamline incorporates high technology components for the realization of material science experiments: high precision diffractometer, scintillation detector, cryostream, beam intensity photodiodes, UHV baby chamber, high pressure chambers, microposition sample holder, charged-coupled devices, electron gun, ion gun, MBE evaporators, gas leak valves, mini-LEED, high kinetic energy electron analyzer, load-lock sample fast entry, UV-discharge lamp, etc.
