Sánchez del Rio European Synchrotron Radiation Facility, B.P. 220, 38043 Grenoble-Cedex 9, France The actual source area of a bending magnet emitting in the infrared range, has been calculated for the double annular Phi-factory for nice experiments (DANE) under construction at Frascati. 'Geometrical' broadening has been included. The actual brilliance ratio defined as the ratio between the brilliance of a synchrotron source and that of a blackbody, has been also evaluated for DANE and compared with the Brookhaven NSLS source. ©1995 American Institute of Physics. doi:10.1063/1.1145762 PACS: 07.85.Qe, 29.20.Dh
